Data Centres

The reliability of Crescom's hosting and OnDemand services is based on state-of-the-art, high-security data centres located in Helsinki and Espoo. Both facilities meet the regularions of the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA Regulation 54/2008 M) on priority 1 and 2 facilities, providing a technical environment that meets the stringent standards for data centres required to deliver mission-critical availability. The data centres house the backbones of almost all international service providers operating in Finland.
 
 
 
 

MONITORING
 
The backbone networks and active network components housed in Crescom’s data centres are monitored 24/7. The monitoring system handles traffic alarms and monitors data relating to server room temperature, access control, and so on. The system is redundant, with two physically separate network monitoring units.
 
 
POWER SUPPLY
 
The data centres feature UPS with backup systems and network-level monitoring. Redundant diesel generators and backup batteries provide stable power for the server rooms even in the event of long power cuts.
 
 
AIR CONDITIONING AND AIR FILTERS
 
The air conditioning systems are redundant in order to be able to maintain the agreed server room conditions. The temperature is maintained at 22ºC, with relative humidity at 48%. The systems measure and trap particles contained in the air.
 
 
PHYSICAL SECURITY
 
The data centres feature redundant fire protection systems, separate and independent from each other. The fire alarm system is directly connected to an alarm monitoring centre. Access control is through motion detectors and video surveillance. An alarm system and security guards take care of intrusion detection and prevention. The equipment is stored in locked cabinets with restricted and monitored access.
 
 
DATA TRANSFER
 
The data centres provide transit services at 2–1000 Mbit/s. There are no specific requirements for the use of protocols.
